My name is Marcelo Lavrador. I am a mechanical engineer working for the aeronautical industry. My hobby is creating projects at home and looking for simple, cheap, and creative solutions; and I do this by buying components available on the off-the-shelf market.
This is how I have fun.
Until now, I had been working on the development of a human drone, but I decided to pause it in favor of a more urgent one: a proof-of-concept of a portable respiratory support device.
Portable respiratory support devices could be used while critical patients wait for care that may not be available immediately during the global COVID-19 crisis.
THE RESULT OF THIS PROJECT IS A DEVICE THAT IS NOT READY NOR ALLOWED TO BE USED IN A REAL MEDICAL CIRCUMSTANCE.
As previously mentioned, this project is a proof-of-concept and, of course, is far from a product to be used professionally. However, it can inspire others to develop their own prototypes, better than this one, bringing them closer to a product that can really help doctors save more lives. For me, this is enough to have the feeling of mission accomplished.
This project might help you save time and money without having to go through the same “trial and error” approach that I had to follow most of the time. It is for this reason that I am disclosing the entire project on this website, including all the source code.
In my opinion, this is the best way for science to evolve.
If this project interested you in any way, having been technically useful or, at least, because it inspired you in some way, I would like to know. Send me a message (I don't guarantee that I will always respond quickly, but I will answer).
Of course, I am also interested in your technical suggestions and/or corrections for an eventual improvement of this project.
